How it works — and why it matters
A visibility platform ingests location pings from ELDs, telematics units, driver apps, and EDI 214 feeds, normalizes them across hundreds of device and carrier systems, and layers on predictive ETAs and exception alerts. Shippers see every carrier's freight in one view instead of checking each carrier's portal or calling dispatch.
Visibility became a shipper mandate as retailers imposed on-time in-full (OTIF) penalties: knowing a load will be late hours in advance turns a chargeback into a manageable exception. For carriers, feeding visibility platforms automatically eliminates check calls and is increasingly a requirement to win contracted freight.
